Commentary: "For The New Christian" NEW CHRISTIANS: You are not expected to be perfect at this time. "Not perfect: just FORGIVEN !" Here's what is happening now: You have invited Jesus Christ into your heart as your personal Lord and Saviour, and He has accepted your invitation. Congratulations! You are now a Christian! At this very moment, a process is going on which will totally change your life. Your spirit and the Holy Spirit are moving in together, merging. You are dwelling in Him; He is dwelling in you. He is beginning to infuse you with His spirit. You are actually becoming more like Him. He has already assumed the guilt for your previous sins, so as of this moment, you are totally free! You owe no penalty for anything you may have done in the past. I have previously said that you do not have to understand everything in the Bible in order to receive Christ as Saviour. Total knowledge of the Bible and a sinless life are NOT preconditions for becoming a Christian. But now that you are a Christian, and the Lord is dwelling in you, you will soon observe that your attitudes and desires are changing. Certain things which you previously liked to do will no longer interest you as much, if at all. And you will start to feel new attitudes and desires. These changes this are a direct result of change of control over your life. They happen to all of us who know the Lord. In general, actions known as "sinful" will decline in their appeal, while actions known as "virtuous" and/or "holy", will increase. Also, you will find yourself seeking answers to your questions in the Bible, and when you receive the answers you need, your belief in the Bible will grow and continue to grow the more you receive from His Word. However, these changes may not happen all at once. You will probably not feel like a "saint", but the process in that direction has already begun. Just keep going your way with Him ! May God bless you!
