Perhaps there was a time when man did need
                a way to pump adrenalin inside,
                to get us ready fast to fight or flee,
                from animals or enemies at hand.
                And if so, maybe anger had its place.
                
                But now it seems that anger is a curse,
                which causes far more harm than it does good.
                For rarely do we need to flee from lions,
                but often are we harmed by angry men.

                And so we pray that You will hear us now,
                and grant this new request that now we make:
                Please banish, Lord, all anger from the earth:
                Just dry it up, and make it blow away,
                And let it nevermore come back to us.
                We know that You can do this if You wish,
                And now we pray You make it come to pass.
                Forgive us if we seem to ask too much,
                But we, Your children, need this help from You.
